Adrian Newey about the new car and preparing for the next season

RB9 became the evolution machine, 2012, but can we expect from her repeat last year's success? Head of technical Department of Red Bull's Adrian Newey prefers not to build predictions ...
Adrian Newey: "the fact that we managed to bring the new car in Jerez is a small miracle. Last year we were fighting for the title of the last race, so work on RB8 lasted until the end of the season. As a result the team switched to RB9 later than expected. This is one of the reasons why the new machine was the evolution of last year's.
The design of the last year left much RB9 chassis. What's more, it continues the line of development that we started in 2009-m we have tried to do better in some areas where we thought that decision imperfect.

Last year, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber were initially unhappy with the balance of the machine. This went on for quite a long time-until we understand what needs to be done so that the riders were able to fully use the potential of RB8. The pilots did not have so much influence on the development of the new machine. Meanwhile, we know their requirements to the machine and can realize their wishes.
Now all the teams are trying to make the car as reliable and, of course, want to gather as much information as possible about the new Pirelli tyres. We first tried them last November at Interlagos, but due to weather conditions could not fully use this information in the year 2013.
What is the secret of success for Red Bull Racing? Healthy working atmosphere in the team, all in their places, everyone is working to the maximum. Here I have the opportunity to realize their potential. I want as little as possible to participate in the management of the team and how you can have more time to devote to the machine. The Red Bull Racing all is arranged differently than in the McLaren.
I have a House with an Office area and a second Kuhlman. This is very useful, because the cooperation with colleagues can be productive, but sometimes leads to multiple stops. I appreciate the possibility of one or two days a week to work from home.
Machine of the year 2014? I would say that the biggest problem is resources and time. In 2014-m will be a serious challenge. I think teams with the necessary resources, already in the summer, will focus on preparation for next season. In terms of technology, the challenge is to compact position in a car motor and related details.
