Ford has just unveiled the B-Max, a pillar-less MPV based on Fiesta underpinnings but which, at slightly more than 157 inches long is 4. 3 inches longer than the Fiesta five-door but a fully 12. 6 inches shorter than the C-Max. What makes the B-Max truly distinctive is its combination of conventionally hinged front doors paired with sliding rear doors; both sets of doors can be opened individually for a pillar free entry and exit creating a 59-inch long opening. Engineered for production, Ford believes this door combination is a worlds first. Sitting 4. 3 inches taller than Fiesta, the B-MAX also provides extremely generous accommodation for its occupants. Drivers benefit from a higher command seating position, while rear seat legroom and headroom is significantly improved. B-MAX, which should go on sale later 2011/early 2012 in Europe, is powered by Fords latest three-cylinder one-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine featuring direct injection and twin independently variable cams and stop-start.
