Fellow rookie Luiz Razia is rumoured to be in line to fill the vacant slot, but no contract has been agreed. As the first product of the team's new technical structure, Marussia has high hopes for the MR02. Marussia split with Wirth research in the middle of the 2011 season and took its design back in-house, with greater reliance on wind tunnel development.
