Earlier this year Jaguar revealed the drivetrains first official figures. The blown 1. 6-litre engine would have as much as 500bhp and would rev to 10,000rpm. The electric motors would be the most powerful in the world and powered by a highly sophisticated liquid and air-cooled battery pack. The front motor would run continuously through a single-speed transmission powering the front wheels, while the rear motor would engage with a bespoke seven-speed automated manual gearbox to provide drive to the rear wheels in tandem with the engine. Jaguar quoted an all-electric range of 37 miles, along with a 200mph-plus top speed and a sub-3. 0sec 0-60mph time, while CO2 emissions were rated at less than 99g/km. While all this technology is working successfully on test beds, Hallmark said the real test would come when it was transferred to running prototypes. Were entering the critical phase of the project, said Hallmark. Weve been a bit reserved and held back from communicating it fully. The future of the project is now less clear than it was last year, but Hallmark said the car would still be built if we have a level of confidence in the technology working together.
