IBM conducted a global study of cities called Parking Index for the presence and availability of car parks. The study was published, in which the rating takes into account the following indicators: the length of the average search time parking availability, conflicts between drivers due to the parking spaces, the possibility of fines for parking in the wrong place, the economic losses from the lack of available space, etc. In the end all was assigned the index that shows the situation with parking. It turned out that the best feel motorists Chicago (51), followed by Los Angeles drivers (61) and Toronto (77). But Moscow has appeared on the list of cities with serious constraints on the availability of parking. Capital of Russia fell to fourth place from the end with a result of 122. Worse were only of Beijing (124), Bangalore (138) and New Delhi (140). However, not all so bad. For example, 29% of respondents in Moscow drivers spend in search of parking from 11 up to 20 m, and 20%-from 21 to 30 minutes-a good result when the average world level in 20 min. And here is the maximum time to find parking interviewed drivers spent in Madrid (average is 25.4 m), Paris (25 min), Mexico City (24.8 m), Beijing (23.6 m), Shenzhen (22.9 m), Bangalore (22.3 m) and Nairobi (31.7 m). In addition, the study found that 30% of traffic jams around the world arise from the fact that drivers impose obstacles on the road in search of free parking spaces.
