On the road in Austin race will be held on solar cars

Circuit Circuit of The Americas in Austin, 24-29 June 2013 will host the Grand Prix Formula Sun. This is the first time in the history of Formula Sun, when the competition will be held on the track, took the stage of the Formula 1.
Grand Prix Formula Sun (FSGP) is an annual competition on the electric vehicle that uses solar energy to recharge the batteries. It compete against student teams from different universities - mainly North American, although there were cases of participation and European teams.
Unlike the classic road-racing racing, FSGP racers not fight wheel to wheel on the track. The goal of the race is to get to the greater distance during a three-day races using to charge the batteries only energy from the sun (at night the batteries are removed). But the machine recorded the fastest lap of the race, also awarded.

Circuit of The Americas FSGP shared the desire to protect the environment, and we are pleased to host this competition at the first United States track built specifically for Formula 1, Development Director, said COTA Edgar Farrera. -Formula Sun confronts challenges students to solve problems in the field of energy management, aerodynamics and the use of high-tech materials.
