Rinspeed's MicroMAX concept uses cloud technology to revolutionise car sharing in cities. Swiss manufacturer Rinspeed is to launch its microMAX concept at the Geneva motor show in March. Billed as a 'network swarm car', the microMAX aims to combine the best parts of public and private transport to be the ultimate commuter vehicle.
By using a new app developed by Harmon for the microMAX using cloud technology, Rinspeed claims it will revolutionise urban travel. Members of the 'urbanSWARM' community can access the travel information (including, routes, speed and passengers) of any microMAX and have their journey planned and executed through the microMAX community and the Harmon app.
The interior of the microMAX features a coffee machine, fridge and wi-fi connectivity. Passengers travel in upright seats and Harman NFC (Near Field Communication) identifies drivers and passengers. The driver controls the majority of the vehicle's functions via a 19-inch touchscreen.
The microMAX is powered by an all-electric forklift drive system. Rinspeed intends for the concept to be charged at urban recharging stations. Harmon's HALOsonic technology is used to ensure the microMAX can be heard by pedestrians.
