A competition version of the Toyota GT86 has been completed ahead of its entry in the GT4 prvenstvo. The first Toyota GT86 GT4 racer is to begin testing ahead of its entry into the European GT4 championship in May.
The car, built by Buckingham-based motor sport specialists GPRM, features a specially developed version of the GT86s 2. 0-litre four-cylinder boxer engine, designed and built by Nicholson McLaren. GPRM director Gary Blackham said the engine will be capable of between 360 and 400bhp.
GPRMs GT86 is described as a cost-efficient, entry-level endurance car. The firm has already taken one order for the new car and is in talks with another team in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship.
Toyota confirmed the new car is not a works effort, but Toyota GB will provide technical support.
