Last night Audi opened its latest dealership in Bristol, west England. One of the last hangar style dealers to be opened, it cost $18,000,000 to build, so celebrations of the highest order were called for. The Champagne, Taittinger of course, started flowing at seven in the evening and was still going strong five hours later when I left, by chauffeured limo – I hasten to add so no drinking and driving for me. While food for the 350 guests was prepared by Casamia Restaurant, recent winners of TV personality chef, Gordon Ramsays Best Restaurant award. Among the guests was soccer star Wayne Rooney who had hired a plane for the evening, to fly him to and from Manchester with fellow footballer, Jonny Evans, also in attendance. Closing off the evening was a set from jazz singer/pianist, Jamie Cullum. All in all the best guestimate was that the evening must have set Audi back circa $780,000 although no one from the brand would confirm or deny the figures. Was it worth it the investment? Going by the stream of guests sitting down with salesmen, and Audis booming profits, Id say the answer to that has to be yes.
