The Chronicle: first Ford
115 years ago, on June 4, 1896, Henry Ford first publicly tested his first car, Quadricycle. Ford Quadricycle, 1896 On that day, one of the main items was inscribed in the Detroit automotive toponymy: Bagley Ave., 58. The address of the Ford family was Henry and his wife, Clara, and the son of Edsel. In the area behind the house, Henry, 32-year-old Henry, was building his first self-propelled crew. Henry Ford (30. 07. 1863 TO 7. 04. 1947) at the rise of his career. The photo shows the photographer's storyboard. We decided not to change the photo. Ford then worked as a mechanic in the Edison Electric Company, was interested in technique, and was familiarized with useful acquaintations. In January 1896, one of the new friends, Charles King, took a couple of numbers of the magazine "The American Machinist", which described how to build the internal combustion engine. By the way, King also built a car and was ahead of Ford for a few months. Ford wasn't alone, he was helped by another fellow at the Edison company, Jim Bishop. The design, which they created, was very compact (1200 mm wheel base) and a light (mass of 230 kg). The car was received by four bicycle wheels with a diameter of 26 inches. The name can be interpreted as a "four-wheeled bicycle", because the ordinary bicycle is bicycle. Ford does not recognize Edison Illuminating Company among other workers. He's on the right. It was made about a year before the Quadricycle was built. The Quadricycle device described in detail in the novel "The Automobile King" by American author Eton Sinclair: " Behind the seat, this new and strange engine was placed behind the seat. For many months, the inventor kept him on the wilderness, fixed it, and made new pieces to him. The engine had two cylinders made of gas pipes with a diameter of two and half inches. Each cylinder was fitted with a firmly-fitted piston and a device by which a drop of petrol came in and exploded with an electric spark. When the engine was driven, it crackled like a machine gun, and produced a gray, unpleasant odor that caused the inventor to hastily close the door of the barn ". (quoted in the book "Truth", M: 1984, pen. M. B. (...) (...) The comparison with the machine gun is quite appropriate, since at the time Khayram Maxim has already patented it. The machine gun was 450 to 600 shots per minute, and Ford's engine developed 3-4 l. at 800 rpm, that is, the sound of both was released by a similar sound. The boy with Bagley Avenue was recreated in the famous Henry Ford Museum in Greenfield-ville, Michigan. The door, through which Quadricycle was rolled out, was much wider. If you follow Eton Sinclair, Ford has had a lot of experience with his neighbors. It is possible to imagine their resentment when, at around midnight on June 3, a company of enthusiasts (Ford with his assistant Jim Bachofer and the Charles King who was driving the door) began to crush the door in the area (the sage, by the way, belonged to a Ford neighbor, Felix Julian), to retrieve the Quadricycle door, and then at 1:30, run it! In this environment, Ford's first car was born. In keeping with his legacy, Ford recreated the furniture in a memorial room at the River Rouge factory. Next, Ford and Beaşoof were seated on the seat and moved to the centre of Detroit, headed King's procession on a bicycle. They reached the Gran River Avenue and went to Washington Boulevard, where the car was safely in front of the hotel with a very symbolic name "Hotel Cadillac". The car was rolled back to the Edison factory, replaced by a ragged valve, and Ford sold it to Charles Aynsley for $200. In keeping with his legacy, Ford recreated the furniture in a memorial room at the River Rouge factory. In 1951, the painting painting of Ford with his wife at the first car was ordered by the artist Norman Rokell. As often happens, the customer rewrote the story to himself. In the future, for example, it will be found that the engine was designed by Edward Joel Pennington. The Quadricycle engine had two horizontal cylinders with a diameter of 65 mm with a piston stroke of 152 mm. 1050 cubic centimetres. The valve position is side. Ignition is low voltage, with separate external allocator and circuit breaker integrated directly into the combustion chamber and close to the electrode. Fuel was presented in a drip, without prior carburetor, from a tank of about 11 litres under the seat. The engine developed 3-4 l. c. The two-tiered continuously variable transmission allowed to move on the first gear at a speed of 16 km/h, the second at a speed of up to 32 km/h. Happy Henry Ford poses for $65 quadricycle in 1904 for $65. Whether this is the very first model, it is difficult to argue, because Ford built two more cars in 1898 and 1901. Today Quadricycle Ford can be seen at the Henri Ford Museum, Michigan. His copies are exhibited in museums from Alaska to Melbourne. The sneer king of the car in his first office. Ford gave a lot of attention to the public. In part, he was taught by Quadricycle, which made Ford a mere employee of the Edison's company transformed into a friend of the great Thomas Edison. Ford Quadricycle is the only one in the OAU that has no access to the Gulf, 1970.
