Hoewel werden verteld door zijn vader dat hij zou racen in de GP2 series dit jaar (zie onze kwestie maart 2011), Amerikaanse F1 hoopvol Alexander Rossi heeft aangekondigd dat hij zal concurreren in de Formule Renault 3. 5 series in 2011 met het Fortec Motorsports team. Rossi, een Californische die in Marina de Pietrasanta, Italië woont, is momenteel in Oostenrijk als een finalist voor de FIA Young Driver Excellence Academy Shootout. Na welke hel besteden de komende vier weken opleiding, werken met sponsors en voorbereiden met zijn team de eerste World Series test op Motorland Aragon, Spanje op 8 en 9 maart. Na nog eens drie tests in maart, Alexander en Fortec Motorsports zal kick off van de 17-ronde Formule Renault 3. 5 serie kampioenschap strijd op 16-17 April op Motorland Aragón, Spanje. Nu zijn zevende seizoen in de Formule Renault 3. 5-Serie zal beschikken over 13 teams en 26 drivers, allen zullen proberen te volgen in de voetsporen van Sebastian Vettel, Robert Kubica, Jaime Alguersuari en Pastor Maldonado naar een race zitje in de Formule 1. Richard Dutton, teambaas Fortec Motorsports: Ik ben blij dat Alexander racen met ons. Ik zag hem komen door de rangen sinds Formule BMW en ik was onder de indruk door zijn snelheid die beide terug toen en ook nu. Zijn debuut in 2010 AOV in Monaco en zijn tempo in de winter testen met ISR toonde ons dat hij een te hebben het jaar was. Nu kijken we alle uit naar onze 2011 championship aanval samen. Mijn doelen voor dit jaar blijven hetzelfde als in vorige seizoenen en Ive nog nooit geweest meer voorbereid Championship winnende campagne. Ik heb vol vertrouwen in Fortec en hun resultaten uit het verleden zijn motivatie genoeg om resultaten te leveren voor hen.
