From the 29th of March 2011 in certificates of Ukrainians abroad at the wheel of a car has to be specified date of expiration of the license.

This is stated in explaining the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the draft amendments to the Decree on the procedure for issuing the driver.
According to the Press-Secretary of the INTERIOR MINISTRY Irina Shinkarenko, today the main document governing international road traffic and sets requirements for its members and their documents are the International Convention on road traffic of 1968 (amended that take effect March 26, 2006).
"In accordance with its requirements, from 29 March 2011 (annex 6 of the Convention) in the driver's identity has to be specified date it expires," he warned her.
"Ukraine is a party to the Convention since 1974. So now all drivers will receive certification on the territory of our State after the specified date and intend to visit the countries that make up the Convention, need the driver's documents, which included the aforementioned data, "explained Shynkarenko.
However, the draft resolution that has been drafted by the Interior Ministry, not a mandatory exchange of driving licenses-this will happen gradually, at the request of their owners.
"At the moment on the territory of Ukraine are valid driver's license of the seven species, including specimen of the USSR. All these certificates remain applicable. However, those citizens who intend to cross the border, the driver's identity must have a deadline in his actions, in accordance with the requirements of the Convention. "
"Those people, who have received the license previously and will not cross the boundaries of States, can continue to use the identities without making any changes," he stressed in the Office.
The Ministry also noted that today in all Western European countries, America and most countries of the former USSR have entered validity of driver's licenses from 2 to 10 years. Thus, in Russia, Belarus, Moldova, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia the validity of a driver's license is 10 years.
Earlier, the Cabinet proposed to limit the validity of driver's license for up to 10 years. Project corresponding Decree was published on the website of the Department of GAI for public discussion.
