The rules of the game "BP rally of two capitals": to travel from Moscow to St. Petersburg, 707 km per tank. Yeah, I can! If no special conditions. . .
The golden rule is to fill the tanks with the long distance before the coach. Assume the tracks are full of filling stations, but all of a sudden, while we're on the road, the fuel starts a few times? You won't tell me what this is for the Russians is unbelievable. But we had a nightmare: a local default fell on the track, money that in the wallets, no more fuel, and the rare ATMs had passed out. Besides, all ten cars stuck a gas cap on the gas tanks, even if you find the fuel in the jerrican, you can't fill it up in the tank. Restrictive rule: Fuel not to be used on the route. In order to be loyal to the organizers, access to the tanks was sealed. Discreet creeping? It won't work: every ten minutes late after the target date, the result of the expenditure is attributed to a gallon of fuel! One hope: the organizers of all our troubles promised that Peter would be met, fed, and the most frugal crews attached to the top of the top WP Ultimate (petrol or diesel oil, depending on the "rally car" with a normal motor or diesel). To get to the finish line-don't we get enough folkoff in the tanks? We were on two models of cars. Audi Q7 TDI quatro has a capacity of 100 litres. The cost of the track is 9.3 l/100 km. But it is clear that so much will be burned on the Autobahn: in a nonstop movement, in a cost-effective mode, with an irreplaceable pace, it is best-with cruise control ... Our road is not an autobahn, to put it mildly: one after the other follows human settlements. Thus, we will take the benchmark figure for the cost of the combined cycle-11.3 l. Recalculating for 707 km of the distance-the salt is enough to stay. Audi A7 Sportback quattro has a tank capacity of 65 l, a combined cycle flow of 8.0 l/100 km. Then it should be enough. But the trick is not to get to the finish line, but to make the expense the smallest ...There's a lot of fuel for the rally. Part of the group did not believe that the results of the crews would be very different. In builtup areas, we have to keep almost the same depressing speed. There is no need to go into settlements, either, or even to accelerate-on the shoulders of the sides with computer-speed retainers (a little running forward: in several places warning signs of video control are installed, but one of our people got caught). You don't feel the speed in your car, and you often have to look at the speedometer in order to control the traffic regime, especially in populated areas. And the accelerometer. 110-120 km/h when the pedal is flooded, it shows 5 and less than l/100 km. Because we have a seven-speed box in the Audi A7. Most of the pilots were excited, and they were greedy with terrible power. It was for what! Winning not only saves money on a fuel price for his own or an editorial machine. Of the prepackaged motor running the first hundred gallons of Ultimate, all the deposits will be removed, and no STO or detergent will be needed to clean the engine. Peace, just calm!In modern cars control descending fuel is simple: on the menu of the on-board computer, find and put on the display of the point of instant and average flow. It would seem that such a gadget doesn't even have to be tense. But competitors have the same opportunities! To win, electronics are not an assistant-call for experience and endurance. Most of the candidates for "super economy" used the techniques used in both "mechanics" and "machine" (all our Audi-with automatic KP). It is not recommended that you keep the distance in the lane, the throttle pedal pressure is to let go: every time you click, the point of time for the splash is increased. Clearly, if you push into the floor, it could jump to 40 and more liters. From here, stay silent, not eat, if in the gap between you and the preceding car, someone is wednable, keep your "your" speed. And if you go on a roll, you drive until the last one, until you realize that the next second, when your machine loses the inertia, it will slow the flow of the stream and all the hind legs will start to irritate. A7 is a 7-speed A7. Transfering from one to another is jumping gently, these transitions are almost negligible. That's how you feel, and by dialling, you can get a little bit of "play" a pedal. She can be picked up by the "catch" the higher step. The speed of the 300-strong engine is enough to keep the steady pace, and the appetite of the engine is reduced. This is applicable to the cars with any ACP, and with the 4-speed "catch speed" is even easier. Passed past the delightful places of Wadlai. And don't turn off? Of course, they went to one of the lakes. The machines posed a diligent position. The fact that the fuel was overcooked (which was 24 km away) and was not disaped. A great loss if he could look at such species. The Winners of Economy-Rally (the results of the conversation below) used the method called "behind the truck". The "tailed" of the heavy goods trailers were set up in the rear, and were thus placed in the "air bag". As a result, Audi did not have to waste energy (hence fuel) to overcome atmospheric resistance. If you hold on to the vans, you go with a higher average speed (but evenly), and less likely to get on the hayshnikov. All of the truckers-with the walkie-talkie, the situation and conditions are on the air. They won't be a part of it if there's a risk, but they won't be stuck when it's gone. And then, they sit high, the situation is better ... In our rally, in the sections passing through several towns (road-two-three lanes, exit lanes, on both sides of the outlaws), when we were close to the trucks, we walked under ninety ...Many riders, of course, are trained in these precepts. Go to neutral-dearer-only the readers of "behind the wheel", who watched the publications in the magazine about five years ago, in which Gennady Yemelkin, the head of the techno-center, said. If you're going down, you don't have to go to "neutral" in the name of the fuel economy. The engine control unit will "understand" and stop supplying the fuel. If you turn on the "neutral" thing, the fuel will continue to flow into the cylinders. You doubt it? Make sure the cars are on the onboard computer. We ran this experiment once again. With the pedal off the gas, going down to Drive, the point-in-time was zero. After switching to "neutral", without touching the gas pedal, the unit displayed on the board with something, depending on the slope of the canvas under the wheels. You look at the point-in-time (1.1 l/100 km) and you dream that it's average. Although the average (6.7 l/100 km) is a lot to envy. This effect is inherent in motor vehicles and with MCP, and with ACP, petrol and diesel engines. But only hoppimples! And we also need to know that the economy-mode works if the turnover is no lower than a certain value (which is the easiest way to determine the experience for your car). And, of course, the fuel needs to be qualitative, like Ultimate. It's no accident. When BP took this brand of gasoline to the Russian market five years ago, the specialists recognized his virtues as superior to the fuel of competitors. And in a few years, the users have confirmed that the engine feels better with this petrol, "keeps the youth longer" longer ... Other oil firms offered products with the same properties. But the gasoline of Ultimate, and from the current year and the diesel fuel of the same brand, are holding the won reputation. What's the balance? In the suburbs of St. Petersburg, they bashed into a search. Everyone thought that the cat would be tailing our efforts. But no, it saved an "start-stop" device, for an economy-friendly thing ... It was half an hour. And soon to finish. The best result for the "diesel" crews was 45.850 l, that is 6,485 l/100 km. (In this area, you would have to stay late to evaluate the metrics.) The results of the remaining participants were not far, they were quite close. If the tanks were 60-liter, the pick-up would have been enough for all participants to go somewhere in the center of Peter and even to the opposite edge. The best among the crews of the petrol Audi A7 was 50.830 litres, which was 7,189 l/100 km. Even the worst of the members of the petrol tank spent less than the capacity of the tank. But this dignity is not more of these "rally", but of a car. Alas, the organizers did not provide for prizes for the cars.
