The Moscow Center for Control of Traffic jams has raised the second wave of discussion about the resolution of the right turn to the red light, this time with the involvement of all the interested citizens of the country. Almost 2,000 people took part in the survey, of whom 88 per cent voted for it. The voting will last until the end of the week. The first time this proposal was announced by the head of the Moscow Center for Control of Traffic Shumy, Alexander Shumsky, was voiced personally by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin during the "Seliger-2011" conference. Then the head of government publicly instructed Interior Ministry Deputy Interior Minister Viktor Kiryanov to work out this issue. The proposed modification of SDA as part of the "development of the issue" was already discussed in Moscow City Duma, but the deputies did not come to the general opinion. The main opponent of the initiative to allow motorists to turn right to red light is GAD, arguing its position as an inevitable increase in the accident rate. If the rule is to be canceled, a sign is affixed near the traffic light indicating that a red light is not allowed on this traffic light. In the second case, if the default is prohibited, a metal plate on which a green arrow is drawn is placed on the traffic light where it is possible to manoeuvre. The Moscow Traffic Control Center is in favour of the second option. According to experts of the center, in the capital, about 300 traffic lights, where the placement of such an arrow will reduce the traffic by 15 percent, and the movement participants will save up to 10 percent of fuel.
