Skoda Octavia 3: two ways
Intrigue model Skoda Octavia 3rd generation - will it have a huge trunk, a hallmark of the first two machines. Alexander Stolyarov and Ilya Mejibovskaia this car reminded... Lada Granta!
The white conceptual hatchback Skoda Vision D, presented in spring at the Geneva Motor Show, is an image of the forthcoming third generation Octavia model. In fact, the concept gives us a complete picture of the appearance of a serial vehicle. And the pre-production prototype is likely to be shown this fall in Frankfurt. If our "calculations" are correct, the serial Octavia will remain "pseudo-edom" with a huge trunk. In that case, it is the long rear end that will distinguish it from the Geneva concept car. A stylistic chip with a characteristic cut of back door windows (1) may well be a proprietary part of the model. But about the same slice (2) on the front door (like the 24th "Volga") we are not sure. The remaining elements are the hallmarks of the serial vehicle: ergonomic door handles (3), molding (4), external antenna (5), and yard-door on 5th door (6). The main intrigue is whether the new Octavia will receive the back part of Octavius in the style of classic hatchbacks-as the Geneva prototype, or the car will remain familiar with the first two generations of three-dimensional form with the expressed pseudo-wallet. In favor of the first version, it says ... the emergence of a concept of another brand in the Volkswagen Group. This is the Audi A3, which is a serial version of which, unlike the predecessors, will get the seat of the sedan before the model "tracks" absent. One of the authors of this material still remembers his almost shock condition, which he experienced in 1996 by opening the trunk of the new Skoda Octavia. It seemed as if seven elephants could be placed in the hold. Not a souvenir, but a natural one! A large trunk took away a certain amount of freedom from the rear passengers. The second generation of "Czechs" has remained true to the image of the model, having received the same big "backpack" behind the back. It is logical to assume that the Volkswagen market analysts want to change the positioning of the two related models-Skoda Octavia and Audi A3, which are created on the common new modular MQB platform. The same set of aggregates will be the basis of the next generation of Volkswagen Golf. That is, the German premium segment of the Audi will want to give a more solid and prestigious three-volume body, and the People's Skoda Octavia is to be provided with a two-volume. In this case, the construction of the corporate model line will become more coherent and logical. The design of the Geneva concept seems to be too lacuned: pure lines, simple surfaces. The serial car will be a little more "leiseered" from an artistic point of view. However, interesting ideas are not going anywhere. First of all this is the bonnet beak, which crowns a monochrome, not a coloured emblem (1), narrow chopped lights (2) and a plated, in chrome frame grille (3). However, a different scenario cannot be ruled out. Imagine this logic: the dynamic Audi A3 will actually become more prestigious by the "third dimension". Skoda Octavia will remain a relatively fiscal and family-owned vehicle. The main trump card is unaltered-the biggest trunk! So, the debate about whether the new Octavia is the third volume or not, goes beyond the design of the debate. This is a choice of concept and pricing policy. See what upturn is now in the golf course: for example, Ford Focus has clearly set the bar in the sense of equipping compact machines with in-vehicle electronics. How will the future of Skoda be a solid, complete security and comfort system and, therefore, expensive? Let' s venture to assume that a three-dimensional hatchback stays in a democratic niche. And for technological advancement, it will be a platform Volkswagen Golf. Does that remind you of anything? Of course! In the past, we talked about a similar scheme, where the Tolotinians are going to sell two hatchback-Granta with a big rear-end and a little more compact Kalina. The interior of the "clique" in our hands! Skoda Concept has a concise and very interesting interior (on the right), the architecture of the front bezel and the deflection image of the deflectors that resemble the 1970s. We could guess what the serial "insides" would be, if there was one funny thing. A month ago, the Czechs invited car journalists to a tour of the Skoda design centre. Naturally, such visits are always very strictly regulated, the owners of the year hide the working materials in the furthest corners, and the guests literally can't make a couple of steps away from the intended route. This time it was exactly the same, except for one thing. Among the absolutely unclassified materials that illustrate the work on Vision D, we found a strange drawing. You looked ... It seems that by chance the "guest" folder was a sketch of the interiors of the serial Octavia! Our artist tried to paint these ideas very carefully. In my opinion. -Octavia-again traditionally-exists in two states: "usual" (current generation) and "budget" (the previous generation) called Tour. But there are rumors that the Czechs are going to develop Tour from the ground up. You'll see! Ilya Mezhibovski, zam. E editor
