EDAG lucky in Geneva ultralight concept

German engineering company EDAG will present at the Geneva Motor Show 2015 year absolutely new concept car built using principles of wood sheet. Model called Light Cocoon made from innovative fabrics, ultra-lightweight stretched on a carbon skeleton; through careful calculation and multistage tests, this design is not inferior to traditional strength in metal and plastic.
Of course, the fiddle in the embodiment of a new idea played a fabric called Texapore Softshell: it is water resistant, frost resistant and durable, weighs four times (!) smaller than standard writing paper. Spectacular illumination of the machine, by the way, any practical function shall not be: it was created by artists to emphasize the beauty of the carrying frame is fully printed on a 3D printer.
Concept Light Cocoon EDAG develops the idea, initiated this year by the layout of the cockpit. According to the company's technical director Jörg Olsen, a new technology based on bionics, promises a revolution in engineering and not only: durable, flexible, optimized for design loads will now become incredibly light.
