As previously reported, at the government meeting on February 13, Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin said about the need to increase fines for trucks at the entrance to the ring road at the wrong time. Speaking at the session of the government of the Russian Federation, S. Sobyanin said that the snowfall in Moscow had a negative impact on the capital's traffic - mostly on traffic on the ring road, where the traffic is almost paralyzed multi-ton trucks. According to him, the administrative law in this area is quite gentle (the penalty for such violation is 300 rubles). "It is absolutely pitiful fines, and they are unlikely to be adequate to the challenge. Asked to support the initiative on strengthening administrative sanctions," said S. Sobyanin.
Recall that from the 1st of March in Moscow is effective prohibition of traffic on the ring road in the day time from 6 am to 10 PM. As from 1 may to 1 October will be subject to additional restrictions on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and also on the eve of public holidays and non-working holidays travel ban will be in effect until midnight.
