The tests in Jerez, the team first tested the new Pirelli rubber, which will be used this season. Last year, on the free races in Brazil, participants were able to test the new design of the tyres, but modified compounds obtained only in Jerez.
Paul Hembry, head of Pirelli Motorsport: "the Four day test in Jerez, where most of the teams worked with the new machines allowed us to evaluate the specifics of rubber of 2013, which has changed the form factor and compositions. There is a feeling that we made the right choice - all of the objectives are implemented. Rubber was faster than last year's and has a wider operating temperature range.
Conditions in Jerez can not be called perfect - here the abrasive asphalt from all tracks on which we have to work so hard to make accurate conclusions, but we have collected a large amount of information about working Hard and Medium, bit - o Soft, and not worked in Jerez with SuperSoft. Now we look forward to the next two sessions, which will be held in Barcelona and will allow the team to better adapt to the new rubber".
