Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its V-Class minivan, a model that could make its way to the U. S.
Despite most automakers focusing on crossovers and SUVs instead of minivans, the German automaker has created a minivan that tries to buck the trend of boring and monotonous. Featuring seating up to eight, the V-Class will come with three different engine options in Europe, all of which are 2. 1-liter four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engines. The base model V 200 will sport 136 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque while the V 220 will provide 163 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. At the top of the line up will be a V 250 model offering 190 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque.

All three powerplants are mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission that offers four different driving modes: economical, comfortable, sporty and manual. The economical driving mode actually reduces engine power in order to enhance fuel efficiency.
The V-Class will go on sale in Europe starting in March and will launch with an Edition 1 model. Rumors persist that the V-Class could ultimately make it to North American soil, but so far the German automaker has remained mum on an official statement.
