We are looking back on the companys strongest year ever, said Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Mercedes-AMG. This extraordinary growth has exceeded even our own expectations. It shows once again that with our AMG Performance 50 growth strategy, were on the right track. Its a strategy we will continue to build on. The introduction of the 4Matic all-wheel drive system to a few models helped spur the extra sales. In 2013, 4Matic made its way into the AMG versions of the CLS, E-Class, S-Class, A and CLA models, while the SUVs were already outfitted with the system. AMG exceeded expectations in the Germany and UK markets, as the EU market was considered weak. In the US, sales grew by 20 percent, thanks to new models at both the high and low end of the price range. Of course, AMG got to green-muscles by introducing the SLS AMG Electric Drive, and the company showed its engineering prowess by cutting over 200 pounds from the S 63 AMG. With the success of the CLA Class and high-performance models, AMG is looking to continue its growth with the introduction of the GLA 45 AMG, and likely a high-performance model of the S-Class Coupe weve been seeing so much of. Additionally, with the SLS AMG heading for retirement, the company will be look to replace it with a 911-fighting sports car.
