Nya BMW 4-serien GranCoupe avslöjat

Fem-dörrars halvkombi kopplingar coupe och Cabriolet varianter i 4-serie; på försäljning i juni med priser som börjar på 29,000. Den BMW 4-serien GranCoupe har avslöjats, och kommer att göra sin offentliga debut på bilsalongen i Genève i mars.
Sätta till förutsätt försäljning i Förenade kungariket i juni med priser från 29,420, femdörrars halvkombi sträcker sig 4-serie line-up till tre olika karossutformningar. Det går 4-serie Coupé och Cabriolet att skapa en rad avsedd att konkurrera som den Audi A5.
Den nya bilen liknar i överklagande 6-serien GranCoupe. Dock BMW har vänt bort från att använda konventionella boot av modell, istället ger 4-serien GranCoupe en mer mångsidig femdörrars halvkombi arrangemang, som i större, längre 3-serien GranTurismo. BMW tjänstemän säger detta format kommer att göra 4-serien GranCoupe mer lockande för yngre köpare.
Resultatet är en layout som liknar den A5 Sportback, med ett grunt växthus, två korta bakre dörrar (alla Ramlösa) bil, en coupé-liknande taklinje och en stor Halvkombi-stil baklucka för att öppnas automatiskt, antingen via nyckelbrickan eller en fotmanövrerad tillbehörssensor införlivas med baksidan stötfångaren.
4-serien GranCoupe är 4638mm lång, 1825mm breda och 1389mm lång. Thats 14mm längre, 14mm bredare och 40mm lägre än 3-serien salongen. Trots dess eleganta utseende är dra koefficienterna bara genomsnittliga av klass standarder, med ett bästa av 0. 27 i 418d skepnad, stiger till 0. 30 på all-wheel-drive modeller.
Den nya bilen har samma chassi som för 4-serie coupe och Cabriolet, så dess mindre rymlig insida än lång hjulbas 3GT. Dess axelavstånd är 2810mm, med spår bredder 1545 mm i fronten och 1594mm på baksidan. Load bukten har en 480-liters kapacitet med bakre sätena och 1300 liter med dem viks ned.
Lägga till 50kg tjänstevikt av motsvarande coupe modeller 4-serien GranCoupes bakre dörrar och baklucka. Den lättaste av lanseringen modeller, 420i, träffar vågen på 1480kg, vilket är 80kg mer än 320i salongen.
GranCoupe 4-serien kommer att lanseras med ett urval av fem motorer och antingen en standard sex-växlad manuell eller frivillig åtta-stegad automatisk växellåda. Två dieselmotorer är planerade att följa i år.
Fostra-rulla drev är standard. Valfria fyrhjulsdrift kommer att finnas från UK lanseringen på den 33,815 420d xDrive, med andra varianter sannolikt att följa. Tvärtemot tidigare rykten, det finns inga planer för en M4 variant, men BMW tjänstemän utesluter inte en M prestanda modell.
På väg den inledande line-up kommer att 435i, som börjar vid 41,155. Den drivs av en turboladdad 3. 0-straight sex bensin litersmotor. Med 302bhp och 295lb ft vridmoment täcker det 0-62 mph i 5. 2 SEK i automatisk skepnad, och återbördade kombinerad bränsleekonomin för 39. 8mpg och en CO2 produktionen från 189g/km.
428i sitter i billigare slutet av intervallet bensin, priser från 32,815. Dess turboladdade 2. 0-liters fyra-cylindrig motor har 242bhp och 258lb ft. Samma motor används också i 420i, där det ger 181bhp och 199lb ft.
2. 0-liters turbodiesel funktioner i den 418d (från 30,995) och 420 d (31,795). Det levererar 141Hk och 236lb ft i 418d, medan den 420d producerar 181bhp och 280lb ft. Den 418d har en 0-62 mph klockan 9. 2 sek, tillsammans med kombinerade ekonomi av 62. 8mpg och CO2 119g/km i manuell skepnad.
Efter lanseringen förväntas BMW lägga till 430d och 435d modeller i line-up. 435d xDrive lanseras exklusivt med fyrhjulsdrift och en automatisk växellåda. Båda använder BMW 3. 0-liter, sex-cylindrig turbodiesel. Den har 255Hk och 413lb ft i 430d, medan 435ds utgångar svälla till 309bhp och 465 lb. ft.

Five-door liftback joins coupe and convertible variants in 4-series range; on sale in June with prices starting at 29,000. The BMW 4-series GranCoupe has been revealed, and will make its public debut at the Geneva motor show in March.
Set to go on sale in the UK in June with prices starting from 29,420, the five-door liftback extends the 4-series line-up to three distinct body styles. It joins the 4-series coupe and convertible to create a range intended to rival that of the Audi A5.
The new car is similar in appeal to the 6-series GranCoupe. However, BMW has turned away from using the conventional boot of that model, instead giving the 4-series GranCoupe a more versatile five-door liftback arrangement, like that of the bigger, taller 3-series GranTurismo. BMW officials say this format will make the 4-series GranCoupe more appealing to younger buyers.
The result is a car similar in layout to the A5 Sportback, with a shallow glasshouse, two short rear doors (all of them frameless), a coupe-like roofline and a large liftback-style tailgate that opens automatically, either via the key fob or an optional foot-operated sensor incorporated into the rear bumper.
The 4-series GranCoupe is 4638mm long, 1825mm wide and 1389mm tall. Thats 14mm longer, 14mm wider and 40mm lower than the 3-series saloon. Despite its sleek appearance, the drag coefficients are only average by class standards, with a best of 0. 27 in 418d guise, rising to 0. 30 on all-wheel-drive models.
The new car has the same chassis as that of the 4-series coupe and convertible, so its less spacious inside than the long-wheelbase 3GT. Its wheelbase is 2810mm, with track widths of 1545mm at the front and 1594mm at the rear. The load bay has a 480-litre capacity with the rear seats up and 1300 litres with them folded down.
The 4-series GranCoupes rear doors and tailgate add 50kg to the kerb weight of the equivalent coupe models. The lightest of the launch models, the 420i, hits the scales at 1480kg, which is 80kg more than the 320i saloon.
The 4-series GranCoupe will be launched with a choice of five engines and either a standard six-speed manual 
or optional eight-speed automatic gearbox. A further two diesel engines are 
planned to follow this year.
Rear-wheel drive is standard. Optional four-wheel drive will be available from UK launch on the 33,815 420d xDrive, with other variants likely to follow. Contrary to earlier rumours, there are no plans for an M4 variant, but BMW officials do not rule out an M Performance model.
Heading the initial line-up will be the 435i, which starts at 41,155. It is powered by a turbocharged 3. 0-litre straight six petrol engine. With 302bhp and 295lb ft of torque, it covers 0-62mph in 5. 2sec in automatic guise, while returning combined fuel economy of 39. 8mpg and a CO2 output of 189g/km.
The 428i sits at the more affordable end of the petrol range, priced from 32,815. Its turbocharged 2. 0-litre four-cylinder engine has 242bhp and 258lb ft. The same engine is also used in the 420i, where it delivers 181bhp and 199lb ft.
