While the Green Bay Packers și Pittsburgh Steelers fight to take home the Vince Lombardi trophy during the 2011 Super Bowl, an even more eclectic cast of characters – including aliens, police, and Poseidon – will be fighting to get their hands on a new Kia Optima sedan. Set to air during the first quarter of Super Bowl XLV, the 60 second commercial marks Kias second visit to the big show. The spot is titled One Epic Ride and, from the description, it sounds as though the Korean automaker went into creative hyper-drive to make it memorable.

According to Kia, the main point of the ad campaign involves the extreme measures people (or other-worldly beings) will go to get the new Optima sedan. We admit the totally redesigned Optima is a class act and one of the best looking family sedans in the market. Whether the cars fine attributes prove enough to tempt a police officer and an international villain to aliens and an ancient chief, well, lets say that the end result should be entertaining.

Kia also plans to use the commercial to give away five new Optimas in its One Epic Contest. Consumers will be given a series of puzzles, with clues provided in a variety of social media outlets before and during the Super Bowl – the fifth and final clue will be provided during the commercial itself. And beginning February 4, Kia will allow consumers to download a $25 Visa pre-paid card de test-drive voucher at the companys website. The card is redeemable after driving test a 2011 Optima.
