In its sophomore season, the Legends of Motorsports vintage racing series is expanding its lineup to include more contemporary cars at its three events, which kicks off May 20-22 at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama. Not only is the series expanding its GTP/Group C category to include more recent equipment, it has also created a new 2000 GT class that will feature factory prepared racing cars from the year 2000 to present. This category includes cars that have competed in FIA GT, ALMS, GrandAm, Porsche Cup and Ferrari Challenge events. In speaking with racers and participants around the country last season, we heard several requests among our competitors for a category of this caliber, said series co-founder and 1986 Indianapolis 500 winner, Bobby Rahal. This category will see Ferraris, Porsches and Lamborghinis competing against each other which will add a new level of competition to our events and make a great show for the fans. In addition to the Barber event, the series will also travel to Circuit Mont-Tremblant (July 8-10) and Sebring International Raceway (December 2-4).
