BMW isnt interested in competing in the entry-level luxury sedan market, said one of its executives.
According to BMW board member Herbert Diess, the German automaker believes an entry in the small-sedan segment has a high risk of substitution and could cannibalize sales from BMWs larger cars.

BMWs smallest entrant in the U. S. market will be the 2 Series coupe, though the Active Tourer 2 Series would fill the void of having a competitor to the successful Mercedes CLA on the marketplace, that is if it comes to the U. S. But currently, BMW doesnt see the need to have a sedan below the 3 Series and believes customers looking for four doors can consider the X1 crossover.
