Thread: 2014 BMW i3 Orders already hit 11,000 Globally

BMW has received 11,000 orders globally for its i3, and according to the German automaker some buyers have to wait six-months to receive their vehicles.
According to BMW sales chief, Ian Robertson, the i3′s demand is already booming in Europe, where it went on sale last November. According to the BMW, it has already taken 1,200 orders for the i3 in the U. S. where itll go on sale starting in May. The electrified BMW will then head to the Asian markets by the middle of the year.

Approximately 80 percent of the i3′s sales are to customers from other brands or to people who didnt own a car previously said Robertson. Strong demand for the car could result in increased production at BMWs Leipzig plant.
Worth noting is that despite previous rumors, BMW production chief Harald Kreuger stated that BMW will not add a third model to the i sub-brand until it has a better idea of demand.
